Invisalign aligners apply gentle pressure to move your teeth in stages. Each Invisalign aligner moves your teeth around 0.25mm, and you change your aligners every one to two weeks. The movement of each aligner is carefully worked out in your personalised treatment plan, so only certain teeth move at a certain time. This means you achieve results efficiently and comfortably.
Invisalign aligners are made of a strong medical grade, virtually invisible thermoplastic called SmartTrack material. Only Invisalign aligners are made from SmartTrack material, which has been specially engineered for the Invisalign system. This means Invisalign aligners can straighten your teeth more predictably, and are more comfortable to wear and easier to put on and take off.
Invisalign treatment should not be painful. You may experience some minor discomfort at the beginning of each new stage of treatment, typically described as a feeling of pressure. This is normal, and is a sign the aligners are working. Any discomfort should go away after a couple of days.
Anything you like! Invisalign aligners are completely removable, so that means that you are free to eat and drink whatever you want. Just take your aligners out before eating and drinking and, to ensure good hygiene, you should brush and floss your teeth after you’ve eaten, before putting your aligners back in.
You need to wear your Invisalign aligners 22-24 hours a day, to make sure your teeth move as per your treatment plan. You should only take your aligners out to eat, drink, brush and floss your teeth.
Most patients have no problems with their speech at all, however you may find there is a minor adjustment period while you get used to wearing your aligners.
No. We advise that you remove your aligners for all meals, snacks, chewing gum, smoking or vaping to avoid breakage or staining, and to keep your aligners clean and bright.
You should brush and clean your aligners regularly using lukewarm water. We also recommend using Retainer Bright a couple of times a week to keep your aligners fresh.
Don’t forget to brush your teeth after each meal and before putting your aligners back in to help maintain good oral hygiene.
Yes. After any teeth straightening treatment you will need to wear a retainer to make sure your smile stays perfect. We offer different retainer options depending on what works for you, like removable ones you can wear at night, and more permanent options too.
